WEDDINGS

The members and staff of First Congregational Church extend to you a warm welcome as you plan your wedding. Yet, one thing is certain, as you plan with us, it will mean many hours of careful thought and preparation before your wedding day arrives. This guide is provided to help you prepare for this significant time in your lives. It will answer and ask questions and perhaps remind you of some things you might otherwise have forgotten.

Arrangements for the wedding and rehearsal dates are first cleared through the church office. Our Office Administrator will answer  your questions and check the calendar regarding your particular date. A deposit of $250 is requested in order to place your date on our calendar. We have many requests for weddings, so the earlier you call the better. Check with the Office Administrator for all the fees involved with the wedding.

The Office Administrator is the primary wedding coordinator and may be reached at the church by calling 734-729-7550. Our minister will officiate at your wedding. Two pre-marital appointments are required to go over your wedding plans. As well, the minister will direct the rehearsal and conduct the wedding ceremony. Many of your questions regarding the service and rehearsal will be answered during the pre-marital meetings. Our minister will marry non-members.

The wedding license must be obtained from the County Clerk of the Michigan County in which you live and be secured within 3 days of the wedding date. Please call the county clerk as soon as possible to ascertain the information you will need to have as you file for this license.

Please bring the Marriage License w/envelope provided by the clerk's office with you to the rehearsal and give it to the minister. The minister will not marry you if he does not have the license prior to the ceremony.

A wedding booklet will be given to you with additional information, such as church policies and regulations, when you visit us, or may be mailed to you upon request.
